Medicines Company Q4 Profit Rises On Improved Revenue

Medicines Company (MDCO), a global pharmaceutical company, announced fourth-quarter results for 2012. Net income attributable to The Medicines Company was $20.7 million, or $0.38 per share, up from $19.6 million, or $0.36 per share in the same quarter last year.

Further, non-GAAP net income for the fourth quarter of 2012 was $42.9 million, or $0.78 per share. Meanwhile, net revenue increased by 20.6 percent to $159.5 million, from $132.2 million in the year-ago quarter.

Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a profit of $0.21 per share on revenues of $136.46 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
