Despite record gas prices and a sluggish U.S. economy, President Barack Obama has scored his highest poll numbers in three years, with 55 percent of Americans approving of his job performance, according to a poll conducted by Bloomberg.
In contrast, the same poll found public opinion of Republican leadership to be wanting: only 35 percent say they have a favorable view of the party, the lowest number recorded in the three years during which the poll has been taken.
The GOP is being taken to task for their refusal to find common ground with the president. The same poll find that Americans by 43% to 34% say the Republicans are at fault for the nation's woes.
Last month a Washington Post/ABC poll found that 60% of respondents said they had a favorable view of the president, while only 37 percent said they had an unfavorable view. That poll was taken between January 23rd and January 27th, in the days following his inauguration speech.
