Woman Charged After Making Shooting Threats To Community College

2/21/2013 2:19 PM ET

A woman has been arrested by the FBI after making threats to commit a bombing and mass shooting at Gateway Community College in New Haven, Connecticut.

NBC reports that 19-year-old Amanda Bowden of East Haven, Connecticut is being charged with one count of false information and hoaxes.

"As alleged, this defendant made a series of threats that described in great detail her intention to carry out a suicidal mass murder at a community college in New Haven," said U.S. Attorney David Fein. "All threats of this nature will be viewed as serious by this office and prosecuted to the full extent of federal law."

The threats, which were initially made via text message to a witness, were later made through texts and verbal conversations with undercover law enforcement.

An undercover FBI agent who spoke with Bowden claims that she spoke highly of the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Authorities searched Bowden's residence, but found no firearms or explosive devices.
