Flea, the multi-talented bass player for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, is teaching his Atoms for Peace band mate Thom Yorke how to surf. The latter, speaking with The Observer, says he's still "pretty crappy" at it, but coming along nonetheless:
"I used always to try to force things, in the studio," he said. "But it's like, you can sit out there on a board for ages waiting for the right wave to come along."
"You can't get angry about it," he continued. "You know it will happen eventually and you start to understand the waiting itself might be part of it. Part of the fun."
Flea was not available for comment on his pal's wave-catching abilities. In any case, AFP plays its first official dates at Exit festival in Serbia (July 10-14) and Melt! Festival in Germany (July 19-21).
