TransAlta Corp. (TAC, TA.TO) Wednesday reported a rise in profit for the fourth-quarter, helped mainly by healthier margins.
Net earnings attributable to common shareholders increased to C$38 million or C$0.15 per share from C$24 million or C$0.11 per share in the same period last year.
Comparable earnings for the period was C$54 million or C$0.21 per share. On average, five analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn C$0.28 per share for the quarter.
Fourth-quarter funds from operations, or FFO, improved to C$205 million from C$189 million last year. On a per-share basis FFO dropped to C$0.80 from C$0.84 last year.
Revenues totaled C$661 million, down from C$701 million last year.
