Dollar Tree Inc. (DLTR) reported fourth quarter net income of $1.01 per share Wednesday morning, up from $0.80 per share a year ago. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $0.99. The company expects to report first quarter EPS of $0.53 to $0.58 and between $2.54 and $2.74 for the full year 2013. The consensus estimates are for EPS of $0.58 and $2.81.
Dollar Tree gapped open sharply higher Wednesday and climbed during the first hour of trade. The stock was range-bound for the remainder of the day and closed up by 4.31 at $45.39 on above average volume. Dollar Tree broke out of a range and set over a 4-month high.
