South Jersey Industries, Inc. (SJI) Thursday said fourth-quarter income from continuing operations declined to $25.57 million or $0.81 per share from $36.99 million or $1.22 per share in the same period last year.

Economic earnings for the quarter amounted to $30.60 million or $0.98 per share, down from $31.78 million or $1.05 per share last year.

Analysts, polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $1.05 per share fro the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
