Great Plains Energy (GXP) reported fourth-quarter earnings of $4.3 million or $0.03 per share, up from $1.7 million or $0.01 per share in the comparable quarter last year.
On average, 10 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.02 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
However, operating revenues for the latest quarter fell to $480.4 million from $486.3 million in the prior year. Three analysts expected revenues of $481.70 million for the quarter.
Looking ahead to the full-year 2013, the company expects to earn in a range of $1.44 to $1.64 per share. Analysts currently expect the company to earn $1.57 per share for 2013.
