Morning Sickness Pill Found Safe For Babies

A study has shown that morning sickness pill Zofran is safe for pregnant women to use and for their babies.

For the study, the researchers reviewed health records from 600,000 pregnancies in Denmark from January 1, 2004 to March 31, 2011. The researcher reviewed the instances of stillbirth, deformities, low birth weight and other birth defects as compared with Zofran use.

Overall they found that those women taking the drug did not report any major health problems. They also gave birth with similar or fewer birth problems than women who did not take the drug.

"Although these results cannot definitively rule out the possibility of adverse effects in association with ondansetron, the results do provide reassurance regarding the use of this agent for nausea and vomiting in pregnancy," the researchers write in their study report.
