Distribution and outsourcing group Bunzl plc (BNZL.L,BZLFY.PK) reported acquiring Labor Import Comercial Importadora Exportadora Ltda in Brazil. Labor Import, which is based near São Paulo, is primarily engaged in the supply and distribution of own label medical and healthcare consumable products to redistributors and to hospitals, clinics, laboratories and care homes throughout Brazil. Revenue for the year 2012 totaled R$49.5 million.
Commenting on the acquisition, Chief Executive of Bunzl, said: "The purchase of Labor Import is another important step for Bunzl as it represents our first move into the healthcare sector in Brazil, having previously acquired businesses in the safety and cleaning & hygiene sectors."
