Wi-LAN Inc. (WIN.TO,WILN) reported that its fourth-quarter net loss narrowed to $2.12 million or $0.02 per share from $5.62 million or $0.05 per share last year. Total revenue decreased to $21.18 million from $24.22 million last year.
Adjusted earnings decreased to $7.04 million or $0.06 per share from $17.89 million or $0.14 per shre last year. The company said the decrease in adjusted earnings is primarily attributable to lower revenues and higher investment in litigation.
On average, three analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report profit per share of $0.07 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude speical items. Analysts expected revenue of $21.85 million for the quarter.
For the first quarter, the company expects revenue to be at least $18.1 million. Adjusted earnings are expected to be between a loss of $2.2 million and breakeven. Analysts expect the company to report first-quarter revenue of $23.00 million.
The company's Board has declared an eligible dividend of C$0.04 per share to be paid on April 5, 2013 to shareholders of record on March 22, 2013.
