Research and development expenses for the fourth quarter of 2012 were $3.1 million, compared to $4.2 million incurred in the fourth quarter of 2011. General and administrative expenses were $1.8 million for the fourth quarter of 2012, compared to $1.5 million for the same period of the prior year.
Revenues during the fourth quarter of 2012 were $3.1 million, including Biosurgery product revenues of $2.9 million compared to $0.8 million over the same period of 2011.
Revenue from collaborative research agreements, government contract and royalties plunged to $179 thousand from $10.28 million in the previous year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a loss of $0.15 per share on revenues of $2.91 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
