Finisar Corp. (FNSR) Thursday reported third-quarter net loss of $3.4 million or $0.04 per share, compared with $8.9 million or $0.09 per share last year.
Excluding items, adjusted earnings for the quarter were $16.9 million or $0.17 per share, compared with $22.4 million or $0.23 per share a year ago.
Revenues for the quarter were $238 million, compared with $243 million a year ago.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.16 per share on revenues of $238.36 million for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Looking ahead to the fourth quarter, the company expects adjusted earnings of $0.15 to $0.19 per share on revenues of $235 million to $250 million. Analysts currently expect earnings of $0.17 per share on revenues of $241 million.
Finisar engages makes optical subsystems and components for use in fiber optics-based data communication and telecommunication networks applications.
