Gainers:

Costco Wholesale Corp. (COST) is up nearly 2 percent to $104.25. The company's second quarter profit surged 39 percent from the prior year period and topped Wall Street view. Total revenue for the quarter improved, but missed the consensus estimate.

BlackBerry (BBRY) is gaining nearly 3 percent to $15.32 on buyout speculation.

Camelot Information Systems Inc. (CIS) is rising over 8 percent to $1.63 following the news that it has received a preliminary non-binding proposal for a going private transaction for $1.85 per American Depositary Share in cash.

Glu Mobile, Inc. (GLUU) is surging 18 percent to $2.85 following the news about the availability of its first real-money mobile gambling offering through Probability plc (PBTY.L).

Life Technologies Corp. (LIFE) is rising nearly 5 percent to $64.00 based on reports that KKR is looking to form a competing consortium to float a bid to acquire the biotechnology company.

VeriFone Systems, Inc. (PAY) is up more than 6 percent to $21.84 following the announcement that Douglas Bergeron is stepping down as its chief executive. Bergeron will be replaced on an interim basis by VeriFone Chairman Richard McGinn, while Board director Leslie Denend will serve as interim chairman.

Decliners:

Urban Outfitters Inc. (URBN) is falling 3 percent to $40.18 following the release of its quarterly results.
