Men's apparel retailer Men's Wearhouse Inc. (MW) Wednesday reported fourth-quarter net loss of $3.4 million or $0.07 per share, narrower than net loss of $3.8 million or $0.07 per share in the same period last year.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected loss of $0.05 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Total net sales for the fourth quarter grew 8.2 percent to $608.4 million from $562.2 million for the same period a year ago. Analysts estimated revenues of $610.0 million for the quarter.
Retail segment sales for the quarter increased by 6.8 percent, while corporate apparel sales increased by 21.5 percent.
Looking forward to the fiscal year 2013, the company expects earnings of $2.70 to $2.80 per share and sales growth of 2.85 to 3.85 percent. Analysts currently estimate earnings of $2.77 per share for the year.
