Carnival Cruise Lines are facing another public relations disaster this week with the announcement that their Carnival Dream ship has canceled the return leg of a trip to St. Maarten.

They broke the news in an official press release stating that the cancellation is due to technical issues, though all passengers are currently safe and comfortable in St. Maarten:

"The Carnival Dream has a technical issue with the ship's backup emergency diesel generator which our engineering team is currently working on. Yesterday, during regularly scheduled testing of the ship's emergency diesel generator, a malfunction occurred. At no time did the ship lose power and the ship's propulsion systems and primary power source was not impacted," reads an official release from Carnival.

Passengers will receive various refunds and discounts and will be flown to their home destinations from St. Maarten on private charter flights. The technical glitch comes at an inopportune time for Carnival, who are currently facing a class action lawsuit at its ship Triumph last power and was stranded in the Gulf of Mexico earlier this year.
