James Breeden, the president of the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, issued a statement Thursday afternoon urging caution on robotic hysterectomies. "Robotic surgery is not the only or the best minimally invasive approach for hysterectomy. Nor is it the most cost-efficient," Breeden stated.
Intuitive Surgical (ISRG) turned sharply to the downside after the report was released and ended the session lower by 19.44 at $489.89 on strong volume. The stock dropped to a 2-month low.
