Republican Mike Rogers and Democrat Dutch Ruppersberger, the highest ranking members of the House of Representatives intelligence committee, suggested on Sunday that the threat of cyber-attacks will only continue to get worse.
Speaking on CNN's "State of the Union," the pair outlines the various levels of infiltration from other countries - ranging from criminal activity to appropriate funds, to top-level espionage of national security secrets.
The worst-case scenario could be a terrorist attack via cyberspace that could have crippling results, they warned.
"We know that terrorists, non-nation states, are seeking the capability to do a cyberattack," Rogers said. "They're probably not there yet."
Both men urged the importance of passing a bill they introduced together on cyber security. It made it through the House of Representatives two years ago but did not pass the Senate.
