Scholastic Corp. (SCHL) reported a third quarter loss of $0.63 per share after the close Wednesday, compared to the loss of $0.33 per share a year ago. The company attributed the wider loss to lower sales of the Hunger Games trilogy.
Scholastic gapped open sharply lower Thursday and fell in early trade, before settling into a range. The stock finished down by 4.32 at $26.75 on strong volume. Scholastic sank to nearly a 4-month low and dropped below its 50 and 200-day moving averages.
