Volkswagen Of America March Sales Rises 3.1%

Volkswagen of America, Inc. (VWoA) Tuesday reported higher sales for March compared with the corresponding month last year.

For the reporting period, the firm said it sold 37,704 units, up 3.1 percent over the same period last year.

The Jetta sedan, volume leader for Volkswagen however, witnessed a slight fall at 12,872 units from 12,947 units sold last year. The Passat Sedan too witnessed a fall at 9,521 units from 10,032 units sold last year, but posted the best year-to-date with 25,909 units delivered so far.

Meanwhile, total Beetle sales for the month was 4,082 units, up from 1,969 units sold for the year-ago period. The Tiguan too witnessed higher sales at 3,304 units from 2,659 units sold a year earlier.
