Swedish aerospace and defense company Saab AB (SAABF.PK) on Monday announced that a consortium of its units HITT Traffic, Ambriex and RRJ Engenharia has received a contract from Brazilian airport operator Infraero to provide an A3000 Advanced - Surface Movement Guidance and Control System at two international Brazilian airports. The company did not reveal the financial details. The systems will be operational within 25 months.
Saab noted that the A3000 Advanced - Surface Movement Guidance and Control System or A-SMGCS is developed and deployed by HITT Traffic. The system will now support air traffic controllers at Rio de Janeiro-Galeão International Airport and at Afonso Pena International Airport in Curitiba and help them guide airport traffic, especially during low visibility conditions such as fog and at night.
Consortium partner Ambriex supports HITT Traffic in Brazil and is the primary point of contact for Infraero. RRJ Engenharia provides the civil works for this challenging project in active airport environments.
Gunilla Fransson, Head of Saab's business area Security and Defence Solutions, said, "This is a key order for Saab on a strategically important market. With this contract, Infraero's airports gain the latest technology for traffic guidance, and join the ranks of airports such as Frankfurt,Singapore and Shanghai that also use the A3000 A-SMGCS."
In Stockholm, Saab shares are currently trading at 139.40 Swedish kronor, up 1.70 kronor or 1.23 percent.
