Telecommunications vendor ADVA Optical Networking Tuesday announced that television and telecomminication services provider Kabel Deutschland Holding AG (KBDHF.PK) has selected its 100G coherent transport for a new nationwide backbone network. The company said Kabel Deutschland will deploy 100G technology along with multi-degree, directionless ROADMs.Consisting of 26 major nodes and more than 50 intermediate sites, this network includes a fully meshed backbone throughout Germany, added the firm.
Multi-degree, directionless ROADM technology provides Kabel Deutschland with the flexibility required to quickly provision new services, which is key to the network's success as some links stretch more than 1,000 kilometers, said ADVA. This fully-automated 100G network is expected to reduce operational costs, planning requirements and lead times.
