Membership warehouses operator Costco Wholesale Corp. (COST) posted a 4 percent growth in comparable sales during March, with net sales for the same month rising 7 percent to $9.67 billion, from $9.07 billion a year before.
According to the company, the changes in gasoline prices and foreign exchange rates had negative impacts on comparable sales for the five-week period, but positive impacts for the 31-week period. Excluding these effects, 5-week comparable sales for the total company went up by 6 percent.
For the thirty-one weeks ended April 7, 2013, the company's net sales were $61.02 billion, up 8 percent from $56.34 billion last year.
