American Apparel, Inc. (APP) Thursday reported 8 percent increase in its comparable-store sales for the month of March. The higher sales were particularly influenced by 26 percent rise in online sales. There has also been a 5 percent increase in comparable sales at its retain store channel.
Wholesale net sales decreased 7 percent while total sales rose 2 percent to $50.3 million. Lower Wholesale net sales was led by less shipping days in March this year versus last year. For the quarter ended March 31 further, the company witnessed a rise in net sales helped by both a rise in comparable sales and wholesale net sales.
For the quarter, total net sales increased 5 percent to $138.8 million, with an 8 percent increase in comparable store sales and a 2 percent increase in wholesale net sales.
