Energy crop company Ceres Inc. (CERE) reported second-quarter net loss of $8.97 million or $0.36 per share, wider than $6.83 million or $2.48 per share in the comparable quarter last year.
Total revenues for the quarter declined to $1.03 million from $1.31 million in the year-ago period. The decrease was due to lower collaborative research and government grant revenues as well as lower seed sales.
On average, analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report a loss of $0.30 per share on revenue of $1.11 million in the quarter.
