Dolby Laboratories, Inc. (DLB) late Monday said that Wanda Cinemaline Corp., owner of the largest cinema chain in China, has chosen Dolby Atmos as the standard audio system for its giant screen, X-Land. Wanda plans to equip all current and upcoming X-Land screens with Dolby Atmos technology.
The chain aims to provision the X-Land screen in Wanda's Chongqing Wanzhou cinema branch with Dolby Atmos and debut is scheduled for July.
Wanda executives plan to install Dolby Atmos capability in at least six of the cinema chain's X-Land locations by the end of this year. Dolby Atmos is a new audio platform that gives filmmakers a new level of control, allowing them to place and move sounds anywhere in the movie theatre.
