Poland's producer prices decreased at a faster rate in March, and the rate of fall also exceeded economists' expectations, latest data showed Thursday.
The producer price index decreased 0.6 percent on an annual basis in March, faster than the 0.3 percent decrease seen in February, which was revised up from 0.4 percent drop, The Central Statistical Office said. Economists had forecast prices to decline 0.4 percent in March.
Output prices in the mining and quarrying industry fell 8.9 percent from a year earlier, and manufacturing prices dropped by 0.4 percent. Meanwhile, prices of electricity, gas, steam and hot water rose by 2.1 percent from last year.
Sequentially, producer prices dropped 0.2 percent in March, reversing the previous month's 0.3 percent gain. The index was expected to stay unchanged month-on-month.
