Pre-market Movers For April 18 (VZ, PEP, THRX, ASML, NOK, UNH, EBAY)

Gainers:

Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) is up 1 percent to $50.00. The company's first quarter profit improved from the previous year period and topped Wall Street view. Total operating revenues rose 4.2 percent, but missed the consensus estimate.

Pepsico, Inc. (PEP) is up more than 1 percent to $80.26. The company's first quarter profit declined from the previous year period, yet its core earnings per share topped Wall Street view. Net revenues fell 1 percent and missed the consensus estimate. Meanwhile, the company confirmed its 7 percent core constant currency earnings per share growth guidance for 2013.

Theravance Inc. (THRX) is gaining 15 percent to $32.25. The company and GlaxoSmithKline Plc (GSK, GSK.L) announced that an advisory committee to the FDA voted in favor of the approval of BREO ELLIPTA.

ASML Holding NV (ASML) is rising over 3 percent to $71.85.

Decliners:

Nokia Corp. (NOK) is down over 6 percent to $3.35. The company's first quarter loss narrowed from the year-ago quarter. Net sales declined 20 percent and Devices & Services sales plunged 32 percent as volume and average selling prices declined in the quarter.

UnitedHealth Group Inc. (UNH) is falling 3 percent to $60.00. The company's first quarter earnings declined from the prior year period. The company backed its full year earnings guidance, but lowered its revenue forecast.

eBay Inc. (EBAY) is declining 3 percent to $54.16 following the release of its quarterly results.
