Anglo-Dutch publishing and events company Reed Elsevier Plc (ENL, RUK,REL.L) issued a statement reporting on the trading performance for the first quarter of 2013 and confirming the full year outlook. The company said its first-quarter underlying revenue growth, excluding biennial exhibition cycling and timing, was in line with full year 2012.
Looking ahead, the macro environment outlook, and its impact on its customer markets, remains mixed, and 2013 is a cycling out year for the company's exhibitions business. However, Reed Elsevier still expects 2013 to be another year of underlying revenue, profit, and earnings growth. The scientific, technical & medical business is on track to deliver another year of modest underlying revenue growth in 2013.
Separately, Reed Elsevier announced changes to its Senior Independent Director and Remuneration Committee Chairman. Lisa Hook has been named Senior Independent Director, effective immediately. Hook has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Reed Elsevier NV and a Non-Executive Director of Reed Elsevier PLC since 2006.
Wolfhart Hauser would be appointed as Chairman of the Remuneration Committee following the conclusion of the Annual General Meeting of Reed Elsevier PLC to be held on April 25, 2013.
