Canadian business software provider OpenText Corp. (OTEX, OTC.TO), Wednesday reported third-quarter net income of $24.8 million or $0.44 per share, compared to $34.7 million or $0.59 per share last year.
On an adjusted basis, the Waterloo, Ontario-based company's profit per share was $1.26, up from $1.01 in the year-ago quarter.
On average, 15 analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $1.30 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items
Total revenues for the period grew 4.1 percent to $337.7 million from $292.3 million last year. Analysts estimated revenues of $345.68 million for the quarter.
Gross margin rose to 64.2 percent from 63.6 percent.
In addition, the company said its Board of Directors has declared an initial dividend of $0.30 per share, payable on June 21, to shareholders of record on May 31, 2013.
