Waste Connections Q1 Profit Rises

Waste services company Waste Connections Inc. (WCN), Wednesday reported first-quarter net income of $41.6 million or $0.34 per share, up from $31.3 million or $0.27 per share last year.

Adjusted net income for the period rose to $45.7 million or $0.37 per share from $40.7 million or $0.35 per share last year.

On average, nine analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated earnings of $0.33 per share. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.

Revenues for the quarter grew 19.5 percent to $449.9 million from $376.4 million in the year ago period. Analysts estimated revenues of $449.45 million for the quarter.
