Television company Belo Corp. (BLC) Thursday reported first-quarter net earnings attributable to the company of $16.67 million or $0.16 per share, higher than $14.29 million or $0.14 per share in the previous year.
On average, three analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to earn $0.15 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Net operating revenues grew 2.8 percent to $160.34 million from $155.9 million in the prior-year quarter. Analysts estimated revenues of $159.45 million for the quarter.
Looking ahead, the company currently estimates total revenue to be down 1.5 to 2 percent in the second quarter of 2013, with total revenue excluding political estimated to be up 3 to 3.5 percent.
