Superior Energy Services Inc. (SPN) Thursday announced first-quarter net income of $63.7 million, or $0.40 per share, compared to $53.9 million, or $0.42 per share, for the same quarter of 2012.
Non-GAAP adjusted earnings for the quarter were $77.6 million, or $0.49 per share.
Meanwhile, revenue for the quarter surged to $1.135 billion from $966.83 million in the year ago quarter.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.40 per share on revenues of $1.15 billion for the first-quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Going forward, the company reaffirmed its EPS outlook and continues to expect 2013 earnings per share to be in the range of $1.85 to $2.35. Analysts currently expect the company to report earnings of $2.15 per share for fiscal 2013.
