VeriSign Inc. (VRSN) Thursday reported a rise in first-quarter net income to $84.5 million or $0.52 per share, from $68.0 million or $0.42 per share in the same quarter last year, helped by improved revenues from last year.
Non-GAAP net income for the quarter was $94.1 million or $0.58 per share, compared to $68.4 million or $0.42 per share in the same quarter last year. Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected the company to report earnings of $0.54 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude special items.
Meanwhile, revenues for the quarter rose 15 percent to $236.44 million from $205.72 million in the prior year quarter. Twelve analysts had consensus revenue estimate of $232.57 million for the quarter.
