Primus Telecommunications Names Neil Subin Chairman - Quick Facts

Primus Telecommunications Group Inc. (PTGI) said Friday its Board has appointed Neil Subin as chairman, effective May 1. Subin has served on Primus's Board since July 2009.

Peter Aquino, Primus's executive chairman, is leaving the Board and company to pursue other interests, effective April 30, and the Board reduced the number of board seats from five to four, the company said.

McLean, Virginia-based Primus Telecommunications provides advanced communication solutions, including traditional and IP voice, data, mobile services, and broadband Internet.

Rogers Communications Inc. and Shaw Communications Inc. are shutting down Shomi, the subscription video-on-demand service run by the two Canadian companies. Shomi said it will shut down operations on November 30, 2016, just two years since its launch. Shomi was viewed as a Canadian competitor to Netflix.
