Danish Unemployment Rate Drops To Three-Year Low

Denmark's unemployment rate decreased to the lowest level in more than three years in March, data released by Statistics Denmark showed Tuesday.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 5.8 percent in March from 5.9 percent in February and 6 percent in January. The latest figure was the lowest since December 2009.

The unemployment rate among youth, aged between 16 and 24, was 5 percent in March, lower than 5.1 percent recorded in February.

The number of unemployed persons in the country decreased by 2,300 from the previous month to around 154,900 in March.

At the same time, the number of unemployment benefit claimants decreased to around 90,300 in March from about 95,100 in the previous month, data showed.
