Broadline closeout retailer Big Lots Inc. (BIG) announced that senior retail industry executive, David Campisi, has been named Chief Executive and President of the company, effective May 6, 2013. Campisi replaces Steve Fishman, who announced in December 2012 his intention to retire upon the appointment of his successor.
Also, Fishman would step down from the board immediately following the 2013 Annual Meeting of shareholders on May 30, 2013 at which time Campisi would be named as a director. Concurrent with Campisi's appointment, the company plans to elect a non-Executive Chairman of the board.
Campisi, with over 30 years of retail industry experience, was most recently Chairman and CEO of Respect Your Universe, a publicly-traded company focused on premium performance apparel and equipment.
