Hudson City Bancorp Q1 Profit Down

Hudson City Bancorp Inc. (HCBK), the holding company for Hudson City Savings Bank, Tuesday reported first-quarter net income of $47.9 million or $0.10 per share, down from $73.0 million or $0.15 per share last year.

On average, ten analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings of $0.12 per share for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.

Net interest income for the quarter dropped to $177.4 million from $234.1 million last year. Analysts estimated revenues of 188.0 million for the quarter.

The company also declared a quarterly dividend of $0.04 per share, payable on May 30 to shareholders of record on May 14.
