Distribution and outsourcing group Bunzl Plc. (BZLFY.PK,BNZL.L) Wednesday said it purchased three businesses which form part of the Industrial & Safety division of Jeminex Limited in Australia.

Based in Sydney, these businesses operate from locations throughout Australia and focus on three specialist markets.

The workwear and personal safety business distributes an extensive range of specialist personal protection equipment, industrial clothing and workwear to the mining, resources, construction and general industrial sectors.

The lifting, rigging and height safety business is engaged in the supply of lifting chains and ropes, slings and fittings as well as rigging accessories and transport and load restraints. It also provides accredited testing and repair services.

The third business is involved in the supply of industrial packaging products to customers in different market sectors.

Revenue of the businesses acquired in the year ended December 31, 2013 is expected to be around A$160 million.

Commenting on the acquisition, Michael Roney, Chief Executive of Bunzl, said, "The acquisition of the Jeminex businesses significantly increases the size of our business in Australasia and extends our operations there into the safety market which is a successful sector for us in many countries.''

The purchases also provide Bunzl with the opportunity to sell its extensive product range to Jeminex's existing customer base.
