Chilean miner Antofagasta plc (ANTO.L) reported a 12.8 percent increase in copper production for the first-quarter of 2013, mainly due to higher plant throughput at Esperanza.
The group's copper production in the first-quarter totaled 183,800 tonnes, compared with 162,900 tonnes in the same quarter last year.
Gold production for the quarter was 86,200 ounces, up from 63,500 ounces produced in the year ago quarter.
The company said it remains on track for production forecasts for 2013 full year as previously guided. In late-January, the company said it expected Group production to be about 700,000 tonnes of copper, 260,000 ounces of gold and 8,000 tonnes of molybdenum.
