Drug maker Forest Laboratories, Inc. (FRX) with Almirall, S.A., on Wednesday reported positive top-line results from AUGMENT COPD, the company's six-month phase III clinical trial evaluating the efficacy and safety of aclidinium bromide in combination with formoterol fumarate. The company in a statement said that the combination showed 'significant' improvement in lung function.
The study which included secondary end points, analyzed to date the change from baseline vs placebo at 24 weeks in Transitional Dyspnea Index, a measure of breathlessness. Positive outcomes were seen with the two combinations achieving the MCID (Meaningful Clinical Important Difference) of a one point change, said Forest Laboratories.
