Church & Dwight Co., Inc, (CHD), a maker of household, personal care, and specialty products, Thursday reported increase in its first quarter profit, reflecting higher revenues across its divisions. Earnings also exceeded analysts' estimates.
For the quarter, the company reported net income of $107.7 million or $0.76 per share, compared with $95.8 million or $0.66 per share during the same period last year.
On average, eighteen analysts polled by Thomson Reuters expected earnings per share of $0.72 for the quarter. Analysts' estimates typically exclude one-time items.
Net sales for the three-month period were $779.3 million, a 12.8 percent increase from $690.6 million during the same period last year. Analysts expected the firm to report revenues of $776.59 million.
The company remains confident about the full-year earnings guidance of $2.79 per share. For the second quarter, the firm expects organic sales growth of approximately 3 to 4 percent and earnings per share of approximately $0.58, compared with last year's EPS of $0.56.
For the upcoming quarter, analysts expect the company to report earnings per share of $0.64 and for the full year, $2.80 per share.
