American International Group (AIG) reported first quarter net income of $1.49 per share after the bell Thursday, down from $1.71 per share in the prior year. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $0.87.
American International Group gapped up sharply Friday and climbed during the first hour of trade before settling into a range. The stock ended the day higher by 2.39 at $44.52 on above average volume. AIG broke out of a week and a half long range and set a new high for the year.
