Homeowners Choice Inc. (HCI) reported first quarter EPS of $1.81 after the bell Thursday, up from $0.88 in the previous year. The consensus estimate was for EPS of $1.13.
Homeowners Choice gapped up Friday and rose sharply in early trade, before settling into a narrow range. Shares finished up by 4.35 at $31.89 and surged to a new high for the year.
