Ambassadors from the North Atlantic Council (NAC), the political governing body of NATO, began their two-day working trip to Norway on Monday, with a visit to the Norwegian Polar Institute north of the Nordic nation, according to a press release.
Monday's meetings took place in the city of Tromso, where ambassadors were briefed on High North issues. They also had an opportunity to visit the Norwegian Coast Guard Vessel KV "Sortland".
The NAC Ambassadors are also scheduled to attend a discussion later Monday at the University of Tromso on future security challenges and the role of NAC. The even is being hosted by Norwegian Foreign Minister Espen Barth Eide.
The Council will also visit the Norwegian air force base at Bodo on Tuesday and tour the Norwegian Joint Headquarters, which is the operational command center for the Norwegian Armed Forces.
