Lauryn Hill dropped the track "Neurotic Society (Compulsory Mix)" over the weekend.

The song revealed Hill's strong feelings about the death of her labelmate, Kriss Kross rapper Chris Kelly.

Hill Tweeted of the track: "In light of Wednesday's tragic loss, I am even more pressed to YELL this to a multitude that may not understand the cost of allowing today's unhealthy paradigms to remain unchecked!"

The former Fugees singer also noted that she had to release the song earlier than she had originally planned due to her financial troubles.

"Here is a link to a piece that I was 'required' to release immediately, by virtue of the impending legal deadline," she said. "I love being able to reach people directly, but in an ideal scenario, I would not have to rush the release of new music . . . but the message is still there."

Hill faces sentencing for tax evasion.
