United Airlines Traffic In April Falls 3.8%

United Airlines Inc., a part of United Continental Holdings Inc. (UAL), said Tuesday that its consolidated traffic in April slid 3.8 percent from last year, on a 2.6 percent decline in capacity.

In April, consolidated traffic, expressed as revenue passenger miles (RPM), fell 3.8 percent to 16.5 billion RPMs from 17.2 billion RPMs a year ago.

Consolidated capacity, or available seat miles (ASM), declined 2.6 percent to 20.2 billion ASMs from 20.8 billion ASMs in the prior year.

Consolidated passenger load factor fell 1 point to 81.7 percent.

The number of passengers who patronized its airplanes were lower by 4.8 percent at 11.3 million.
