Brenntag AG Q1 Profit Down; Sales Up

Chemical distributor Brenntag AG (BNTGF.PK) posted a decrease in its profit for the first quarter, despite an increase in sales.

The group's profit before tax slid to 106.0 million euros from last year's 117.5 million euros.

Earnings attributable to Brenntag shareholders declined to 69.7 million euros or 1.35 euros per share from 79.0 million euros or 1.53 euros per share a year ago.

Operating EBITDA decreased 3.3 percent on a constant currency basis, or 4.0 percent as reported, to 164.7 million euros from 171.6 million euros.

However, sales rose 2.1 percent on a constant currency basis, or 1.4 percent on reported basis, to EUR 2.419 billion euros from 2.384 billion euros last year.

Gross profit increased 1.3 percent year-on-year to 477.9 million euros.
