United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC) reported that its first-quarter net income attributable to stockholders of the parent jumped to NT$6.59 billion or $221 million from NT$1.29 billion or $43 million in the year ago quarter.
Earnings per ADS was NT$2.60 or $0.087, compared to NT$0.50 or $0.017 last year.
Net Sales for the quarter were NT$27.78 billion or $931 million, up from NT26.27 billion or $881 million in the prior year quarter.
For the second-quarter, the company expects new Business Segment's revenue to be approximately NT$1.5 billion and operating loss to be approximately NT$800 million.
