Inovio Pharmaceuticals Inc. (INO) Friday posted first-quarter net loss of $8.86 million or $0.06 a share, compared with $8.3 million or $.06 a share last year.
Revenue for the quarter fell to $1.5 million from $1.7 million a year ago, hurt by the timing of work performed under a contract with the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases.
Analysts polled by Thomson Reuters estimated a loss of $0.04 a share on revenues of $1.01 million.
Total expenses for the quarter rose to $8.9 million from $5.9 million in the prior year, and included $5 million of research costs.
Shares of the company lost 2.76 percent at $0.60 in after-hours trade on the NYSE.
